IBO Player setup guide — from download to first channel

The only app StreamZen supports, explained end to end

StreamZen is delivered exclusively through IBO Player. This guide covers installation on every device we support, then the remote playlist activation that puts your channels on screen. Budget fifteen minutes for a first-time set-up. Already have credentials? Jump to adding your playlist. Not yet subscribed? Pick a plan first.

What IBO Player is, and why we standardised on it

IBO Player is a dedicated IPTV client available on Android, Windows, macOS, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung Tizen and LG webOS. It reads a playlist you register once and keeps it synchronised across app restarts.

We support one application on purpose. A single client means our technicians know the exact screen you are looking at when you ask for help, and it lets us tune stream delivery for one player rather than a dozen. StreamZen does not provide support for any other IPTV application. If something here does not match what you see, message support rather than guessing.

Once the app is running, everything in the channel line-up becomes available on that device. Common questions about devices, activation times and the one-device rule are answered in our FAQ.

Before you begin — the honest picture

Runs on nearly everything

Android, Windows, macOS, Fire TV, Samsung Tizen and LG webOS are all covered, which makes it the practical choice for non-Android smart TVs where most IPTV clients simply do not exist.

Remote playlist activation

Credentials are registered on the IBO portal rather than typed on a TV remote. Enter them once on a phone or laptop and they appear on the television.

No recording function

IBO Player does not record to local storage. Seven-day catch-up on supported channels covers most of what recording would be used for.

One screen at a time

There is no multi-screen or picture-in-picture mode, which lines up with the one-device rule on every StreamZen subscription.

Small one-off app licence

After a short introductory period the app itself asks for a modest one-time licence fee paid to its developers. That fee is charged by IBO, not by StreamZen, and is separate from your subscription. Details of what your subscription does cover are on the pricing page.

Installing IBO Player, device by device

Install on Android phones, tablets and Android TV boxes

  1. Open the browser on your Android device and download the IBO Player installation file from the official IBO Player website.

  3. Open the downloaded file and tap Install. If prompted, allow installation from your browser in the permissions dialog.
  4. Launch the app. An introductory screen explains how playlists work — read it, then tap OK.
  5. Note the MAC address and Device Key shown on the dashboard. You will need both in the playlist step below.

Install on Windows 10 and Windows 11

  1. Download the 64-bit Windows installer from the official IBO Player website. The application requires Windows 10 or newer.
  2. Windows SmartScreen may block the installer because it was downloaded outside the Microsoft Store. Click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Work through the installer: Next, optionally tick the desktop shortcut, Next, then Install.
  4. Click Finish to launch IBO Player and note the MAC address and Device Key from the dashboard.

Install on Amazon Fire TV Stick

  1. From the Fire TV home screen, open Search and look for the Downloader app, which allows installing apps from outside the Amazon store.
  2. Install Downloader, open it, and grant the media-access permission when prompted.
  3. In Downloader's address field, enter the official Downloader code for the IBO Player Android build — 511693 — then select Go.
  4. The APK downloads from the official source. Select Install, then Open once it completes.
  5. On first launch, note the MAC address and Device Key from the IBO Player dashboard.

Install on macOS

  1. Download the macOS build of IBO Player from the official website, choosing the package that matches your processor.
  2. Open the downloaded disk image and drag IBO Player into your Applications folder.

Adding your StreamZen playlist

IBO Player uses remote playlist activation. Instead of typing a long URL with a TV remote, you register your credentials once on the IBO Player website and they appear on the device automatically.

  1. Find your device detailsOpen IBO Player on your television or box, select the profile icon on the dashboard and read the Device Info panel in the top-left. It shows your MAC address and Device Key.
  2. Log in to the IBO portalOn a phone or computer, open the official IBO Player website and choose Manage Playlist from the top menu. Enter the MAC address and Device Key you just noted, then log in.
  3. Add the playlist StreamZen sent youChoose Add Playlist if we sent you an M3U streaming line, or Add XC Playlist if we sent Xtream Codes credentials. Both appear in your activation email.
  4. Fill in the fieldsFor an M3U line: give the playlist a name, paste the Playlist URL exactly as supplied, and leave XMLTV EPG URL empty so IBO builds the guide from the playlist itself. For Xtream Codes: enter the Host, username and password. Tick Protect this playlist to set a PIN if children use the TV.
  5. Save and restart the appClick Save, then close and reopen IBO Player on your television. Your channels, categories and EPG load within a few seconds.

Getting the Live TV screen right

The default Live TV layout crowds channel names under the preview window and misaligns the guide. One setting fixes it.

  1. Open the layout settingFrom the IBO Player dashboard, select the screen icon next to the Wi-Fi indicator to open Live Screen Style.
  2. Switch the styleThe default style is the cramped one. Select the alternative style and click Save.
  3. Check the resultChannel names now have room, the preview window sits correctly and the programme guide lines up. Press the left arrow on the remote to bring categories back into view.

Favourites, search and settings worth knowing

Add a favourite

From the channel list, press and hold on a channel and choose Add. A heart appears beside the name and the channel joins the Favourites category at the top of the list.

Search the grid

The Live TV section has a search field — useful when you know the channel name but not which of the 34,000 entries it sits in.

Parental control

Settings → Parental Control sets a PIN on categories or on a whole playlist. Worth doing before handing the remote to a child.

Language and player

Settings lets you change the interface language and switch the Live TV and VOD decoders if a particular stream misbehaves on your hardware.

Clear cache

If channel logos or the guide look stale after a line-up update, Settings → Clear Cache forces a clean reload without touching your playlist.

Auto boot on start

Turn this on and IBO Player opens automatically when the television powers up, which makes the box behave like a cable receiver.

If something is not working

SymptomWhat to do
Channels will not load after saving the playlistClose IBO Player completely and reopen it. The app pulls the playlist at launch, so a restart is needed after any portal change.
One channel buffers, the rest are fineThat is a source-side issue on that particular feed. Report the channel name to support and we will rebalance or replace the source.
Everything buffers on Wi-FiRun a speed test on the device itself. Sustained 25 Mbps is comfortable for 4K, 10 Mbps for FHD. Where possible, use Ethernet or a 5 GHz band.
The app says the device is not authorisedYour subscription activates one device at a time. If you changed television or box, contact support and we will move the authorisation over.

Setup questions

Android phones, tablets and TV boxes, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Windows 10 and 11, macOS, Samsung Tizen smart TVs, LG webOS smart TVs, and MAG/STB receivers. Browser playback is also available on Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.

No. The application has no recording function. Seven-day catch-up and replay on supported channels covers most of what you would otherwise record.

It runs briefly without a licence, after which its developers charge a small one-time licence fee. That fee goes to IBO, not to StreamZen, and is entirely separate from your subscription price.

No. IBO Player has no multi-screen mode, and every StreamZen subscription authorises one device at a time. A second screen needs a second subscription.

No. IBO Player uses remote playlist activation — you register the credentials on the IBO website using a phone or computer, and the playlist appears on the television automatically.

A sustained 10 Mbps handles FHD comfortably and 25 Mbps is recommended for 4K streams. Wired Ethernet or a 5 GHz Wi-Fi band gives the steadiest result.
